In fact, term life insurance pays out a death claim on death by natural causes or accidents, but not suicide in the first two years you are insured, one year in some states like Colorado.
In addition, you can pay extra to get an accidental death and dismemberment endorsement added to your term life insurance policy which would pay an extra limit of coverage if you died from an accident.
So, if you get this added coverage you could basically double the death benefit of your policy if it was determined you died from an accident.
This is called "double indemnity", whereby you receive double the death benefits of the life insurance policy for death of the insured by an accident.
