A claim rarely takes more than 60 days after death to be processed by a life insurance company (assuming they have all of the documents necessary to pay the claim).
Typically, life insurance death benefits are paid when the insured has died, and the beneficiary(ies) file a death claim with the insured's life insurance company, submitting a certified copy of the death certificate.
Many states allow life insurers 30 days to review the death claim. Then they can pay it, deny it or ask for additional information.
