I was informed that I am the primary beneficiary on a life insurance policy that my ex-husband apparently had with them. No one was aware this policy existed.
I sent to the State he passed away in and got the death certificate. I faxed the death certificate and the claim form to Met Life on 9/19. I called on 9/22 to make sure they got the information I faxed. I was told that they had received my paperwork and sent it for assignment of the death benefits. Where it was sent I have not idea. I was told I would hear something in two weeks. So far, I have not received anything from Met Life. I don't know if the woman I spoke to meant two weeks from when I faxed the information, from the day it was sent for assignment of benefits, or from the day I called.
How much longer do you think it will be until I receive something from Met Life?
I dealt with Metlife on my mother's life insurance plan a few months ago. They are very good and handle their claims in a timely manner.
Once Metlife had all the paperwork necessary to handle the claim, they had a checkbook sent to my father within 2-3 weeks. You can write checks off of the checkbook or deposit them into your account at the bank.
Make sure you follow-up with Metlife is you have any questions or need to find out the status of your claim. They are their to help handle your claim and make sure you get your money from the life insurance policy.
